Job Description for Graduate Student Incident Knowledgebase Developer

Graduate student developer to work on the development of the CERT
Coordination Center (CERT/CC) Incident Knowledgebase (incidentKB).  The
CERT/CC (www.cert.org) is located within the Software Engineering
Institute.

The CERT/CC is developing the incidentKB to address the Internet
community's need for faster, high-quality Internet security information
and the accompanying need for higher quality, long-term data for
research. The incidentKB is more than a new database; it involves
processes for efficiently collecting information on Internet security
events in real time, processes that allow us and others to analyse the
data and provide information back to the Internet community faster than
can with be done with existing processes.

The graduate student employee will work on the development of the
incidentKB with the team of full-time staff and student employees in a
team environment.  The development work includes developing prototypes,
and investigating and testing technologies.

A candidate should have experience in network programming; development
experience using languages such as C, C++, Java, Javascript, Perl; and
experience with distributed object programming (e.g., CORBA, RMI, ILU,
etc.).  XML, SQL, database programming experience is preferred.

Students should be able to work 20-40 hours per week over the summer and
15-20 hours per week during the fall and spring.
