1) The course taught as 18-540 Distributed Embedded Systems this
semester will be taught as a CAPSTONE DESIGN course (renumbered to
18-549) in Fall 2001.

2) The pre-requisite for 18-549 is 18-349 Introduction to Embedded
Systems.  That is the only acceptable pre-requisite other than
equivalent project/industry experience with instructor permission.


Therefore, any student who wants to take 18-549 in Fall 2001 is strongly
urged to register for 18-349 in Spring 2001 to meet the course
prerequisite.  If any student is locked out of 18-349 due to it being
full, they are strongly encouraged to contact me a full semester before
taking 18-549 to arrange an alternate preparation plan.  Further
