When Computer Graphics, Virtual Reality and Robotics come together

Where: Singleton Room, Roberts Hall (Behind Hammershlag Hall)
When : Thursday, November 30, 2000 at 5:00pm

This talk will cover how virtual reality and computer graphics are used by
surgeons to  conduct more accurate and less invasive surgery. The basics
of computer-assisted surgery, including a discussion of the various
technologies and approaches will be presented.  We will talk about the use
of techniques such as Image Overlay, a visualization method that combines
3D stereo computer generated images with the user's view of the real
world. Finally, an overview of the current market as well as the different
companies and products already in the market will be given. Presented by
David Sell of CaSurgica, a CMU Robotics Institute spinoff.
