Pittsburgh SPIN - Meeting Announcement 6:45 - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 26, 1994 Software Engineering Institute Agenda 6:45 - 7:00 SPIN Business 7:00 - 7:30 Refreshments/Networking 7:30 - 8:45 Improvement Successes and Barriers Since our charter has just been ratified, your SPIN Steering Committee has decided to exercise some important aspects of that charter. The mission states that "the SPIN is a forum for free and open exchange of software process improvement experiences and ideas." One of our key objectives is to share lessons learned among the participants. In addition, through the SPIN introductory survey in June, you expressed considerable interest in Benefits & Lessons Learned discussions. Hence, at the October meeting our program will be devoted to the sharing of lessons learned. In an informal setting, all will be asked to fill in the blanks: 1) One major success that I have experienced in implementing improvement in my software organization is_____________. 2) The largest barrier that I have not been able to overcome is___________. Linda Ibrahim and Mary Merrill, from the SEI, will facilitate our responses so that you leave this meeting with some ideas for dealing with common improvement barriers and have fun in the process. Come join us!! Please post this notice, distribute it broadly, and extend this invitation to your colleagues who may be interested in software process improvement. We need people who can contribute their knowledge, experience, time, or ideas to make this SPIN successful. Anyone interested may attend; however, for logistical purposes, please RSVP by October 24 if you plan to attend. RSVP: Don McAndrews e-mail: drm@vaxa.switch.com phone: (412) 369-2328 fax: (412) 369-2399 If you can not attend but are interested, please contact me and I will forward information on our next SPIN meeting. NOTE: We will be collecting $3 per attendee to cover expenses (mailing, refreshments, etc.) Mission: The Pittsburgh SPIN is a group of professionals who share a common interest in the field of software engineering and software process improvement. The SPIN is a forum for free and open exchange of software process improvement experiences and ideas. We promote mutual respect, software quality, and achieving higher levels of process maturity. Our mission is to help sustain commitment and enhance skills through an active program of networking, publications, recognition of excellence, and mutual support. ------- End of Forwarded Message -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Janice M.
