Meeting Announcement
6:30 - 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, 1995
Software Engineering Institute

Agenda
6:30 - 7:00	Arrival, registration, networking, refreshments
7:00 - 7:15	Convene in the auditorium for 15 minutes of "madness"
		(see below)
7:15 - 9:00	Presentations: Software Metrics: Using Data to Make Decisions

***In God We Trust...All others bring data.***

This session will explore some of the more useful methods and techniques
for applying software metrics. Three areas will be presented by members
of our SPIN organization, with plenty of time for the audience to
provide additional stories, questions, feedback, etc. The areas
scheduled to be presented are:

**Project Management Measures - Creating and using historical data to
estimate, plan, and track projects - presented by Don McAndrews,
Union Switch & Signal, Inc.

**Customer Satisfaction Index - Setting up metrics to measure and help
to improve customer satisfaction - presented by Mike O'Connell,
Union Switch and Signal, Inc.

**Measurement and the Capability Maturity Model - Using measures and
data in support of CMM-based improvement - presented by Jim Rozum,
Software Engineering Institute

We have a minor change in format that we hope will interest and engage
you! Once everyone has had the opportunity to arrive, appease their
appetites and chat informally with others, we would like to assemble
in the auditorium and give you the opportunity to:
- talk about some particular success you have had and would like to
  share with others
- ask if others would like to join you in forming a special interest
group (ex. on the topic of testing training)
- ask questions of the group (like "where can I get more information about X")
- or anything else you want to ask or discuss

Come join us! Please post this notice, distribute it broadly, and
extend this invitation to your colleagues who may be interested in
software process improvement. Anyone interested may attend; however,
for logistical purposes, please RSVP by March 17 if you plan to attend.

NOTE: We will be collecting $5 per attendee to cover expenses
(mailing, refreshments, etc.)

Mission: The Pittsburgh SPIN is a group of professionals who
share a common interest in the field of software engineering and
software process improvement. The SPIN is a forum for free and
open exchange of software process improvement experiences and
ideas. We promote mutual respect, software quality, and achieving
higher levels of process maturity. Our mission is to help sustain
commitment and enhance skills through an active program of networking,
publications, recognition of excellence, and mutual support.
