IntelliJ IDEA 4.0 New Features 
 
 UI Designer 
Here's instant relief from the "pain points" of creating Java? GUIs. Stop wres
tling with layouts and writing loads of code for even simple things. Drop your
 "widgets" into the design space, position them where you want them, "wire" th
em up to the application's functionality, and you're done. IDEA intelligently 
handles the runtime layout positioning and generates all the internal UI code.
 
 
  Generics Support 
IDEA's code generation and refactoring are now Generics-aware. Begin using thi
s new feature of the Java language right away, even before JDK 1.5 is released
. Use JDK 1.4 plus Sun's Early Access compiler (http://developer.java.sun.com/
 developer/earlyAccess/adding_generics/ ) and start doing Generics now. 
  
 CVS Integration 
We've completely redesigned and rebuilt it from the ground up. Forget about sw
itching back and forth between the command-line or a stand-alone CVS client. E
verything you need to work with CVS is built right into IDEA. And the newly de
signed UI means working with CVS just doesn't get any easier. 
  
 
 JUnit Integration 
Unit testing with JUnit reaches a new level of ease and convenience with this 
new enhanced integration. The new UI makes launching tests a breeze, and puts 
all the test information "right at your fingertips". Easily see and access all
 test results, test failures, and stack traces. Navigate from results or failu
res to relevant code. Compare expected and actual results. 
  
 
 Modular Projects 
With IDEA 4.0 you can modularize project source code, sharing source files and
 library definitions among different projects. Great for J2EE? and Web Service
s projects where several projects may use the same component sources. 
 Debugging: modify code during debug session 
Debug your code faster and more efficiently because you no longer have to stop
 and restart the debugger in order to make changes to the code. After changing
 code, just reload the class and continue the debugging session. 
 BEA WebLogic? integration 
Now you can use IDEA for J2EE development using BEA Weblogic as your applicati
on server. IDEA now knows about Weblogic specific deployment descriptors and m
odifies them accordingly while working with your enterprise applications. 
You can configure run and debug configurations for local and remote Weblogic s
ervers, build and deploy EJBs, web applications and enterprise applications di
rectly to the server. For local server instances you may also run management t
asks like starting and stopping the server without leaving IDEA. 
 Splitting Editors 
Have you ever thought of having a second editor window open in IDEA, with the 
possibility of having another set of tabbed files or be able to split the curr
ent one? Well, you don't have to dream about it any longer because the possibi
lity to do so is now reality.
