Good. It is ok. I realize that many people select Java to enjoy
the sense of orderness and inner tranquillity. Its neatness and
promised "Cross-platform" ability have been appealing to college
students and professors alike. Frankly speaking, I like it too as
a C++ programmer. However, tremendous amount of details have to
be considered in a real commercial system, and I would never
believe such claims that a Linux system can be comparable to the
best commercial UNIX release in performance. Bugs, countless bugs
will ruin the whole thing. You may have it as a toy, but you can
never depend on it. Today's users are faced with a "openness or
performance" dilemma.

Microsoft is undoubtably in a dominating position in today's software
industry, although it may change at any time. For nearly twenty years
Microsoft has presented as many valuable concepts and ideas as its
widespreading products. It also showed to the public how large-sized
organization/management and personal originality can be put together
to form a modern empire.

Age of Empire? Yes. Java is a good tool, but component models are
something indicating a totally new age. Nothing I say, especially
in English, can be better than the narrations in "Inside OLE", so I
choose not to say. I always try to find someone to talk about this
book. So you can imagine how happy I am if Holly could explain in
detail his disaggreement with the book. And I really thank Holly
for his opinions, which help made the online discussion so in-depth.

Well, time is up now. I really hope we all can be friends. In this
age of empire, we need to organize and struggle in order to survive.
