I had the same problem with Delphi 3 Pro, and it persisted when I upgraded
to Delphi 4
Pro. As in your case, it affected ONLY the Delphi IDE glyphs, not glyphs in
Microsoft or
other products.

Many of the icons on the first few tabs of the Delphi IDE were fine, but
some others
would have the wrong images, or would be offset with mottled grey vertical
fringes along
the icon edges, and some would be joined together in a long solid rectangle
of black
(moving the mouse pointer along the black rectangle would delineate the
separate icons,
but they'd still remain as black squares). The hint floaties functioned
normally, and
each toolbar icon would still perform its function.

As far as I know the problem is caused by SOME graphic drivers caching [some
types of?]
bitmaps incorrectly and corrupting them. Perhaps Microsoft and other
companies know the
workaround for this, and Inprise don't. If my attempted explanation is
inadequate -
which it probably is - anyone please feel free to correct me.

In Windows 95 I corrected the problem by turning down the graphics
acceleration. Yes,
you too may degrade your computer! From memory (I'm at work using Windows
3.1), you may
find the graphics acceleration settings in Control Panel, Display, the
Settings tab, and
maybe off some Advanced... pushbutton.

Windows 95 has a slide bar with four possible settings for this: no
acceleration, not
recommended; some acceleration, if significant/major problems; more
acceleration, if
minor problems; full acceleration if no problems (recommended and default).
I had to
turn down the acceleration to the minimum, so two positions down from the
maximum, but
luckily not off altogether. Bummer, dude.

I hope to find an updated driver that'll enable me to crank the acceleration
back to the
max with no side effects...

I had some very strange / similar problems when moving an application to
NT.
   Solution: Are you ready!!!

Open the Image list, drag one of the glyphs into another position and drag
it
back.

Problem fixed. Work that one out {:-O

Can anyone shed some light on this ....

Upon upgrading to Windows 98 on my Dell Dimension XPS D266
with a Sony Trinitron monitor and a STB Velocity 128 video
card with AGP, I now notice that all the glyphs in Delphi
4's toolbars and menus are completely corrupted. Everything
works just fine, but the glyphs are hardly recognizable,
which makes using Delphi significantly more difficult.

This problem does not occur on any of my other apps. Only
within Delphi 4 and only the toolbar and menu icons.

Is there a fix for this?
