Pledge Drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

October 6th - October 19th.  This year's goal $108,000 and 2000 members.
(This is what KGNU truly needs to keep going).  KGNU will receive about
$11,000 less from CPB in FY98, we must rely more on membership.  In
FY97, which ends September 30th, listeners contributed 63 percent of the
operating budget, about $206,000.  It won't happen without your
heartfelt
participation.  If you are not a member, or know someone who aint call

GNU Fall Arts Fest
------------------

The GNU Fall Arts Fest, which is part of the arts and crafts fair at the
Farmer's Market on Saturday, October 11, from 8-2.  We need volunteers
to help at the booth.  Call the station for more information.

Long Strange Trip Tip
---------------------

On May 22, 1998, KGNU will be 20 years old.  If you have ideas for
events,
please contact Greg O'Brien chair of PBOG (Promotions and Benefits
Oversight Committee).  The Big Event so far scheduled is Noam Chomsky
on April 5.

New Board Member
----------------

We are happy to welcome Phil Dougan to the KGNU board of directors, Phil
has been a faithful phone person during drives for years and his
commitment
and thoughfulness are a welcome addition to the board.  The board's
annual
meeting will be Tuesday November 11, at the Unity Church.
