KGNU is now live on the internet in Realaudio 3.0 format. We're the first station in the Denver/Boulder Area to broadcast online. Now whereever anyone is in the world, they can listen to KGNU-FM. KGNU is Boulder Colorado's community public radio station. KGNU broadcasts a mix of diverse, international, folk, and local music as well as international, community and local news and public affairs programming. Our website address is: http://www.kgnu.org/ Our live feed is available at: http://www.kgnu.org/live Thanks. Tim.

While KGNU-FM may be the only station in the Denver/Boulder area broadcasting in RealAudio, you certainly aren't the first!! KBCO-FM has that distinguished honor!!! :-) > Our website address is: http://www.kgnu.org/ > Our live feed is available at: http://www.kgnu.org/live I'll give it a listen.... :-) Patrick Cook patcook@dimensional.com Denver, Colorado P.S.: SPAMMERS NEED NOT REPLY!!!

I'd think most local people would rather listen to a radio station on a radio, since the bandwidth is already available through the airwaves. Which would leave non-local people (or travelers) as the primary audience that I would think this is being aimed at. So who actually seems to be listening to them? ... Rick

I occasionally listen to KGNUs rebroadcast of the BBC World Service news when I'm in my office at 4:30. Most of the day I listen to more distant stations - Classic FM and Radio 5 from Britain and CKUA from Alberta. My guess is that most KGNU netcast listeners will be Boulder exiles. -- Colin Rosenthal High Altitude Observatory Boulder, Colorado rosentha@hao.ucar.edu

Rick Well, as a rather recent Boulder-to-St. Louis transplant, I'll be giving the KBCO site a listen. jen

KBCO-FM has that distinguished honor!!! :-) Does KBCO have a continuous RealAudio broadcast, or just specific events? In either case, I couldn't find any RA links at www.kbcoradio.com. I prefer KBCO, so please let me know. I'm listening to KGNU right now via the Internet, however--nice!

We are using the RA feed to better serve that audience. Our online audience mostly consist of office workers who can't pick us up because of inference; ex-Boulderites; Community radio listeners who like community based radio. Plus several of our speciality shows (Bluegrass, reggae, Blues, MSA, etc) have fans around the world who are interested to hear what our DJ's are playing. It's really exciting and it good to see repeat listeners coming back and listening to KGNU on the web. TTYL. Tim Buczak KGNU Boulder

And I'm *really* having a reception problem out here in the Sierra Foothills of CA. :-) I really miss your station. (ex-Ft. Collins resident).

And most important, a convenient outlet for the Grateful Dead Hour! Living in Denver/Aurora, my access to GDH/KGNU is spotty at best. Although it is not in stereo, it is nice to hear the Boyz online... /danno -- Daniel S. In my experiences as a radio promotions person, I have had many opportunities to speak with Catherine the previous music director at KGNU. Her philosophy about the music was diverse and set a great example for other free-form stations to follow. I'm sure her presence at that station will be missed. The fact that they are running on RealAudio now is fabulous because the underground network of eclectic music lovers ARE out there in cyberspace, desperately seeking out new places to hear rare music. In my opinion, the internet will help "Free Radio" break its bondage of its FCC restraints and burst upon the world globally, thus eliminating the ridiculous monopoly of frequencies and the FCC hoops small stations have to jump through to be heard. In addition if you are into incredible music on the internet, try GoGaGa.com, which also is out of Boulder, and offers an incredible selection of some of the most diverse music on the planet.
