I am looking for some types of soda that are commonly available elsewhere,
but I have had trouble finding in Colorado:

* Diet Barq's Root Beer
* Diet Sunkist Orange
* Diet Sunkist other-fruit-flavors-as-well, for that matter
* Lemon (*not* Lime) Diet Coke
* Diet Rite White Grape in 2-liter bottles

I'm in Evergreen, so Denver and Boulder are both possibilities.
Does Colorado have a store with a really wide selection of soda?
(I've already been to Cost Plus; they have a great selection of
*exotic* sodas, but not stuff like Diet Barq's.)

So you've tried the local Albertsons, Wal Mart, Safeway and Soopers, right?

And Aspen Park Drug and Evergreen Drug?

You can find some obscure goodies mailorder of course...pricier though.

http://www.hometownfavorites.com/shop/htfg.asp

Otherwise drop down to Applewood and try the Soopers there.

Yep. The supermarkets say that these things are not available in the
Denver area, but I know that is at least partially a lie, because I
*have* seen diet Orange Sunkist.

>And Aspen Park Drug and Evergreen Drug?

Aspen Park Drug; do they have things the other places don't? I could
go by there...

Yeah it's BS, I get these things in my area.

Used to, same for Evergreen Drug - sometimes just getting to a different
location works, like Applewood or down by SW Plaza.

I get the Diet Rite in all flavors at my Soopers, but I'm not anywhere
near you. Same for the Diet Sunkist, in 2 liter size. The diet Barq's
I've seen, but I don't recall where. The diet Coke lemon I also get at
my store- so I think it just varies by locale.

Might be some phone time brings results.

What is "your store"? I'm willing to trek to the far corners of the
Denver area once in a while.

Well...I'll keep that confidential for stalking reasons, but if you dial
and seek you shall find.

Target is another resource.

Like I said, try different neighborhoods - product choice varies by
demographic.

Lotsa times I'll find a convenience store with a special going down -
they almost always have the singles anyway.

Corporate for Soopers should tell you which store is stocking what.

http://www.kingsoopers.com/contactus.htm

And I've found most store managers will bring in a product for you if
you pester them.

Barq's is a Coca Cola owned brand - no sweat there.

Diet Rite is owned by RC, so if they have that on shelf it's no biggie
to bring the white grape pop in.

And Sunkist is part of Cadbury/Schweppes, so if they have that or Dr.
Pepper you should have the ability to order some diet orange in.

Shoot, I once got Soopers to bring in Anasazi beans from Adobe Milling
Co. over in Dove Creek as a special order.

If you're persistent they will get the message.

That Bergen Park Soopers should have a receptive manager - talk to him.

These guys all fear Wal Mart - as a last resort that invocation WILL get
their attention...

And if you do seed the shelves and it sells - well...say no more.

Now if only those west slope peaches would show up again.

Soopers had them once this month - we're READY!

I'm a big fan of the Diet Rite because I don't like Nutrasweet,
but so far I haven't been able to find Diet RC anywhere local.
Has anyone else seen it?

I understand that you can't be too careful, but if you see any of the
target sodas (diet Barq's, lemon diet coke in 2 liter, any diet rite
in 2 liter) in a store that's not too close to your home, maybe you
could pass the word?

>And I've found most store managers will bring in a product for you if

They tend to claim that what I am asking for does not exist in the
Denver area--even if I later find another store of the same chain
selling it.

>Barq's is a Coca Cola owned brand - no sweat there.

Except that the diet version doesn't seem to exist in Colorado.

I thought I saw it in Wal-Mart. I may even have seen it in a King's.
