The 2013 Seed Collection Schedule is here!!!

This year you have many opportunities to get out and collect native
seed on some of the most beautiful properties Boulder County and the
City of Boulder have to offer! New to the schedule this year are two
"split" day projects (July 13th and Sept. 21st). On these days
volunteers have the option of attending one 1/2 day session in the
morning, or one 1/2 day session in the afternoon, or both. Lunch will
be provided to volunteers who attend both sessions.Stay tuned for two
more seed collection projects to pop up during the season.

SEED COLLECTION CREW LEADERS ARE NEEDED!

If you are interested in learning more about species and collecting,
and would like to share your knowledge with others be sure to check
out the upcoming Seed Collection Crew Leader Training.

WHY SEED COLLECTIONS ARE IMPORTANT

The seed volunteers collect is critical to local restoration projects
since often it is not commercially available, or too expensive to
purchase for projects. For many species the locally-adapted seeds can
be grown out increasing them by 100- to 1000-fold! With your help,
local restoration projects in the coming years will have an ample
supply of diverse native vegetation.

No botany or experience is necessary for collecting! Skilled Crew
Leaders will help make sure everyone has fun and knows all they need
to about each species and location. Seed collection projects range
from a few hours in the evening to 3/4 of a day and are great for the
whole family. Each collection will be within a short drive of central
Boulder, but we will not know the exact location we will be collecting
until 3-4 days prior to the project date. Seeds ripen at their own
pace!

To register for a seed collection simply click on the date below of
interest.
