Seed Collection Volunteers Needed!!!!

We need your help more than ever to collect seed this late summer/
early fall season. The warm season grasses and late season shrubs and
wildflowers are coming along very nicely and should be producing seed
very soon! Therefore we need all hands on deck to collect this seed
before it drops.

If you've been unable to attend a recent weekday evening seed
collection, please consider coming to our upcoming Saturday and Sunday
projects. (see schedule below)

What better way to spend time with friends and family then laughing
and chatting while collecting seed on some of the most beautiful
Boulder County and City of Boulder properties with breathtaking
views?

The seed we collect at each of these projects is specifically adapted
to the areas in and around Boulder and often times this seed is not
commercially available or too expensive to purchase for projects. For
many species the locally-adapted seeds can be grown out increasing
them by 100 to 1000 fold! With your help, local restoration projects
in the coming years will have an ample supply of diverse native
shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers.

No botany background or experience is necessary for collecting!
Skilled crew leaders will help make sure everyone has fun and knows
all they need to about each species and location. Seed collection
projects range from 3 to 6 hours each, and are great for the whole
family.

Community Service hours are honored on these projects.

Corporate groups and other organizations are always welcome! Just
contact Amy Ansari, Seed Collection Coordinator amy@wlrv.org for more
information and to register a group.

Locations... ????

Each collection will be within a short driving distance from central
Boulder. However, we will not know the exact location or species we
will collect until about 3-4 days prior to each event, since seeds
ripen at their own pace.

Below is a snap shot of the collection dates for the late summer/early
fall season. Please visit our website and sign up for all the
collections you want through the online project schedule. Amy Ansari
can answer any questions you might have - amy@wlrv.org

Looking forward to continuing a great season of collecting

seeds with you all,

Amy Ansari & Jarret Roberts WRV, Erica Christensen BCPOS, and, Lynn
Riedel OSMP
