E-mail policy seems to be a very hot topic around industry these days; both with public bulletin board services and internally within private companies. What are your feelings on the topic? Are company e-mail policies necessary? How do you balance the right-to-privacy of the user with the intrinsic security holes in today's networked 'open' systems (guarnateed privacy leaves the company wide open to litigation in the event the user's privacy is violated by utilizing a security hole)? Do e-mail users have a right-to-privacy with the e-mail (i.e. they are using a company resource ostensibly put in place for company use, not private communications)? Does anyone out there have a policy from an engineering driven company which they could share? -- Rob Ramrath E-mail: ramrath@bose.com Bose Corporation The Mountain Framingham, MA 01701-9168
