We have been gathering companies that utilize algorithms or hypertext or both to create smart business applications into a trade association, "The Management Software Association." So far 17 companies have joined over the past year and we have garnered stories in some 15 publications including 10 pages on MBA-ware in the Nov. 8th issue of PC Mag, cover story in PC AI (Nov.), Working Woman, Computer Currents, Boston Globe, Jrnl of Bus. Strategy, PC Expert, Resellers Management, Inc. (upcoming in March '95), Training Magazine, etc. If you or someone you know would like to join to help us further publicize this category of software (not spreadsheets, word processing, and databases) or you would like more information about our association send me some mail. If there is interest I will post some more details about the companies and their applications. Generally the apps fall into the following categories: - managing people and projects - strategic analyis - business process engineering - statistical forecasting All the programs embed a fair amount of domain content and are considered electronic performance support systems (EPSS) - a not a widely discussed category of software (unfortunately). Oddly, all the apps we have located so far are from smaller companies in the US. Maybe we aren't looking in the right places? Any help would be much appreciated.
