I've explained this before.

If someone crossposts between national newsgroups, like:

Newsgroups: comp.ai,comp.cog-eng,comp.software-eng,comp.ai.neural-nets,bu.general,bu.seminars,ne.seminars

and ONE OF THOSE GROUPS happens to match one of ours (bu.general),
then it will filter into our local newsgroup.

Of course you should pay attention to the Distribution: header
as well; you posted your followup to the entire country, who is
wondering what your confusion is.

That posting was originally intended for several ai groups and
the Boston University bu.general and bu.seminars groups.
