___ Step 008 of DIY AI: Create the Main Program Loop MIND. Just make a loop with some dummy steps and some dummy messages - these "stubs" can be filled in later with active, mentificent code that actually constitutes the artificial mind. Try to code the follow- ing two "Hello, world!" statements for the user to interact with: "Now I am thinking. (Press a key)" "Now I am listening. (Press a key)" /^^^^^^^^^^^^\ Main Program Loop of MIND /^^^^^^^^^^^^\ / keyboard \ With Two Internal States /monitor screen\ | _________ | ________ | _______ | | / \ | / \ | / \ | | ( keypress? )--|--( thinking )---------------|--/ Press \ | | \_________/ | \________/ _________ | ( a ) | | | \ / \ | \ key! / | | | ( listening )---|---\_______/ | | | \_________/ | | Congratulations! In the first AI "Hello" with an IQ of zero, you have focused your own mind on the robot mind that you are shaping. You the creator have begun to interact with the evolving creature. You the programmer will make a mind that reproduces your own mind. -- http://www.scn.org/~mentifex/ to "The Art of Computer Mindmaking"
