I have encountered two problems with importing comma-separated ASCII-files into Excel: - My files comes from Paradox 1) When check the radiobutton "comma" Excel do not separate the fields, but if I go down to "custum" and types in a comma, then it separates the field. No big problem but strange. 2) The next porblem is worse. It reformat fields like 04.05 as "4th - May" - and even worse - it does not help to reformat the cell to "number", because Excel has added 1992!!! Is there a way to force Excel not to do this silly conversion to dates of numbers? Is the problem connected to how you set up Windows and Excel when it comes to decimal-delimiter, dateformat etc.? But iven if that is the case is not Excel trying to be too smart here?
