I saw a demo of this at our AMUG (Macintosh) meeting last night and cannot
remember exactly how it's done. I believe, though, that you type the
title into the leftmost cell and press enter. Then you select that cell
and extend the selection to the right to cover the columns you wish to be
centered over. Finally, and here's the part I am least sure of, you may
just double click, or you may click on one of the icons in the toolbar.
That's my recollection, anyhow.

However, the COOLEST thing I saw in the demo by Rob X at Microsoft, was an
automatical document formater. You simply select your entire spreadsheet,
the rectangle of used cells, and press the autoformat icon in the toolbar.
Excel formats the whole thing artfully with some borders and some color
and some variety of font style, etc. If you don't like the first automatic
format, click again and you get another one to choose from. I think Rob
said there are 15 or 20 styles to choose from.

The same technique might work. Try it and report back?
