Can anyone help me with a solution to this? : I want to accumulate expense values by catagory. I have a program with 4 columns for expense entries (literally checkbook amounts). Left of each column is a narrow column for a 1 or 0 as to whether the amount has yet been reconciled (check back from bank). I want to add additional columns (1 associated with each column of values) in which to enter the expense catagory (probably numbers between 1 and 15). The reason for so many columns is so 1 month's activity can be viewed on one screen (though it does increase my work by 4X). How can I get a columns values accumulated according to the value of another column? I thought of 2 schemes, but there should be a better way. 1) created a separate @dsum( , , ) statement for EACH catagory value. This method also requires me to have a separate CRITERION TABLE for each @dsum. If I do a database extract, I have that same exact problem. 2) create a separate @dsum( , , )-'previous cell' and this keeps me from having to have SEPARATE CRITERION TABLES (I can get by with one long one for each value column). But it still seems like a kludge. What am I missing here, since this seems like an obvious thing to have been done many times. ps. the 0's or 1's in front of the checks not returned are for a /database extract procedure for accumulating and summing the outstanding values. Works nicely. ppss and bye the way, this is in QUATTRO, but it's exactly like 123. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dale M. Forsyth | Assoc.
