DDE to Excel 3.0 under OS/2 1.3

I realize this may be a long-shot, but here goes:
I have a C application for OS/2 v1.3 Presentation Manager that sends data
to Microsoft Excel v3.0 via Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE). I am able to
accomplish this 100% of the time when only one copy of Excel is running on
my workstation.
When two or more copies of Excel are running, I want to be able to send data
to a specific instance of Excel. In the Excel User's Guide, on page 344,
the directions suggest appending a "Task Identification Number" to the
DDE name ("excel") when initiating a conversation with Excel from another
application.
The Excel Function reference guide mentions that the macro "EXEC" will
return this task ID. However, under OS/2 it only returns a zero.
My questions are:
1) what is the "Task Identification Number"
a) if this number is really the OS/2 process ID, then when I append
this ID onto "excel" and use this as the DDE name when I initiate
the conversation, I am not able to establish a connection.
2) How can I obtain the "Task ID" if it is not the OS/2 process ID
3) If I can't single out an instance of Excel using these methods, is
there an alternative method?
Thanks for any input.
