Steven, sorry to hear about your Micropolis incident. I myself just bought a used Gig full height SCSI that was a Micropolis. It worked when I got it but was unreliable upon bootup and last night (only a week later) it died on me. I'm not sure how old the drive was but it's quirkiness and unreliable booting made me wonder anyway. There was a time, when I was still searching through the magazines looking over specs and prices, that I thought Micropolis made an excellent product. Heck, with a five year warranty, they must be good, I thought! I guess I was wrong and now I'm out a sizeable sum for my lost GIG drive... and as anyone knows who has purchased a Micropolis, the warranty is not transferrable... even if my drive was a year old I couldn't ask Micropolis for help in replacing it. For your next drive I would recommend pretty much any other major brand. I have heard from friends that Segate makes some nice drives, and Western Digital Caviar drives are supposed to be really good too. Conner, Maxtor, NEC are decent AFAIK. -- Byron Gracey bgracey@freenet.npiec.on.ca
