ScsiII port to read ScsiIII?

Does anybody know of ANYONE who has managed to get the Quantum Empire 2100s
working with the Atari Falcon? The Falcon doesn't recognize the drive.
Apparently the Falcon is designed for scsi2 and the Empire is scsiIII. Today
I called System Solutions about it. They told me that it would work if
I had an internal hard drive to boot the HD-Driver(tm) software from (yes)
and put the SCSI Arbitration setting on. I went down there and bought the
aforementioned software from them.

Guess what? It doesn't work. The man at System Solutions said there were
definately people out there who managed to get it to work. The other strange
thing is that although the spec's for the Empire 2100s on Quantum's web page
claim it is SCSI3, the drive unit uses a normal Scsi2 50 pin connector.
Wierd. Do you know of anyone at all who has managed to get it to work? How
did they do it?

sounds to me like your getting bilked. scsi2, csi3, dont work weell
together. we have a $600 convertor that converts 50-68, and backwards. it
also allws for fast/wide to differential conversions, but it sounds like
you need a trade.

I don't think the Quantum is SCSI3, if I am right that standard is not
even completely ratified yet.
I use an Empire 1400s on an Adaptec 1542B and it works fine. There should
be no problem with SCSI2 interfacing.

What I know about older Atari's (I have an ST with SCSI adapter) is that
it does not generate parity on the SCSI bus. That cause problems for me
with a 250M Hitachi drive I interfaced at that time, and for which the
parity jumper was wrongly documented in the datasheet.

You may want to disable parity on the Quantum drive.
