Forwarded in the hopes that it'll provide some insight into the
efforts that other computer networks outside of the US are putting
into network services. The emphasis appears to be on European
services rather than general internet, and on OSI protocols rather
exclusively; but it is interesting and refreshing to have a federally
sponsored effort actually ask network users what sort of information
they would like to get at.
In my own response I sent back information about WAIS, archie,
comp.archives, the U of Michigan "Weather Underground", and a few of
my favorite library catalogs. Perhaps the Europeans can be convinced
to take care of the USA's "network roadmapping" needs :-)

Subject: COSINE Information Service
(Rough translation from the original German as found on dnet.inet, all
errors mine!)
A European information system is being built within the framework of
COSINE. The consulting firm "Level-7" has a contract to do this work
in cooperation with the University of Brussels. Level 7 is sending
out a questionaire to all member networks, see the attached message.
It would be best if as many as possible would answer this questionaire
-- you can win 100 English Pounds!
Many thanks for your assistance, and at the same time thanks for all
who answered the IXI inquiry.
Mit freundlichen Gruessen
