Jochen Bern writes: >Guys, you make me feel nervous ... Is it REALLY THE CONNECTORS you >have to swap, as everybody says? NOT the Jumper Settings? Or are the >Jumpers integrated into the Connector nowadays? Floppy drives and their cables on IBM compatibles were designed to be installable by end-users. As shipped by the factory MOST drives do not need to be addressed to anything other than as shipped. A twist exists in the middle of the cables to effect the necessary address for the drive. Each drive is effectively set to an address appropriate to its connector's position on the entire cable. -- Larry Autry Silicon Graphics, St. Louis autry@sgi.com
