Pkzip must try to put the processor into protected mode or something, It crashes on my os/2 at home, and at work under windows 3.1. Has anyone else had this trouble? Dave -- gt4719b@prism.gatech.edu

It only crashed for me when I ran PKZIP without parameters and looked at the list of switches, then pressed a key to continue. When I forced PKZIP _NOT_ to use DPMI with the -) switch, I believe... the symptoms disappeared. I was also running under OS/2 at home. There seems to be a bug in the DPMI use/recognition in PKZip 2.04c. This applies t both Windows and OS/2 2.x. At least with OS/2 you can "zero" the DPMI available in a particular DOS -- Steve Withers - Wellington, New Zealand | Steve.Withers@bbs.actrix.gen.nz | Space for rent. +64 4 478 4714 | - cheap rates, nice location. **** Happy user of OS/2 b2.1 **** |

To disable pkzip2.04c's usage of DPMI, use the "-)" command line parameter.
Or, better yet, get pkzip2.04e, which appears to have a fix for the DPMI
problem (it seems to be working right for me).
