Archive-name: auto/comp.sys.amiga.applications/PageStream-IFF-Import-module A new IFF ILBM import module for PageStream is now available for FTP from hubcap.clemson.edu in /pub/amiga/incoming/graphics.tools (if someone has a better idea where to put it, please suggest away). Following are the release notes: Kevin (soft-logik@cup.portal.com) 150/150: New IFF ILBM Import Modules for PageStream 2.2 Name: Michael #12 @13459 Date: Tue Aug 04 16:44:40 1992 I have uploaded IFFILBM.LHA to the PageStream Amiga file library. This contains IFFILBM_NTSC.import and IFFILBM_PAL.import. Delete your old IFFILBM.import file and replace with one or both of these. IFF ILBM doesn't retain the resolution at which a picture was created. This is important for desktop publishing. Thus a new data chunk was added to IFF ILBM called XBMI. It is the screen type and resolution that the picture was created at. If this is present, PageStream can import a picture properly. If it isn't, you get it at full expanded size. You can specify dpi=xxx, yyy in the As part of the Import requester as listed in the manual for pictures without XBMI. The old import module assumed that the picture was 65x55 dpi if the picture didn't have XBMI. This was a fine assumption for North America (NTSC screens) but not so good for Europe (PAL screens.) Thus there are now two modules. The PAL specific module assumes the picture was created at 65x70 if you don't inform it differently. That's the only difference. North American users will probably only want the NTSC module. Europeans will definitely want the PAL module, and may want to install the NTSC module as well if they import a lot of pictures they know were created over here. If both are installed, you will be able to choose which module to use from the left selector in Import. If only one is installed and you need to specify the other type of picture, just use dpi=xxx, yyy to import it correctly. I hope this doesn't confuse anyone. Just use the one module if you dont' understand.
