Dirty Linen Magazine ("Folk, Electric Folk, Traditional, and
World Music") has just made their monthly tour schedule update
available from and anonymous ftp site. This is a comprehensive
listing that usually comes out to about ten pages of small type.
Looking through the latest one (updated August 24, 1992), there's
dates for Ad Vielle Que Pourra, Patrick Ball, The Bobs, Danza
Azteca de Anahuac, Alex de Grassi, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones,
John Gorka, Second City Touring Company, Walter "Wolfman"
Washington, and many others - I'd estimate about 250 artists
listed, with dates, venues, and contact phone numbers listed.
To access the files, ftp to nysernet.org, and log in as
"anonymous". When prompted for a password, enter your net
ID (i.e. brady@vtvm1.cc.vt.edu). The info is in the
/folk_music/dirty_linen subdirectory, listed as DLCALxxx.txt
and DLCALxxx.wp, where xxx is the 3-character abbreviation for
the month, .txt are text files, and .wp are wordperfect files.
(note the .wp files must be downloaded as binary files).
Please note that when using FTP, it is proper protocol not to attempt
access (i.e. tie up their machine) between 6AM and 6PM local
time (in this case, Eastern time: Greenwich Mean Time -5)

These listings are provided by the artists, or their booking agencies.
To be included, send your tour info to Dirty Linen, P.O. Box 66600,
Baltimore, MD 21239-6600 USA. While there is no charge to run your
tour information, "it would be polite to buy a subscription."
Sorry - the schedule currently includes only tour dates in the
U.S. and Canada (this might change - talk to the editor).
The deadline to be included in the Dec/Jan issue is October 16,
December 24 to be in the Feb/March issue.
If anyone has any further questions about these schedules, I'd
be happy to answer them, or point you to someone who can.
