Edict has grown about 1000 lines since the last release, so it is 
time it went out again. V28 has 28,199 lines, and is available
in the usual formats (edict, edict.Z, edict.zoo) on 
monu6.cc.monash.edu.au in the pub/nihongo directory.

edict will also be available  from the US site:

ftp.uwtc.washington.edu

I have just ftped it to the "incoming" directory there. It may take
a while for Jon to move it.

Most of the extra 1000 lines came from a dictionary which fell off
a diskette into my workstation. The source had kanji and english,
but no yomikata, so I have matched the ones for which my wsktok
file had the kana. The english translations may be a bit ropy.

Where I have added a translation from the Canon Wordtank, I have 
appended "(WT)" to show this. I will eventually authenticate these, but
I would be very grateful if someone more fluent in Japanese than me 
(i.e. most of you) could glance at these and pass on any corrections.

The MS-DOS version of the edict file has just cracked the 1Mb mark. It
has certainly grown a bit since I first added a few entries to 
MOKE2.0's 57kb edict two years ago.
