I have just uploaded the latest version of Richard Horne's voice command
system for the amiga to the following ftp sites:

          wuarchive.wustl.edu : systems/amiga/incoming/audio
and amiga.physik.unizh.ch : amiga/new (whence it should eventually
move to amiga/util/misc)

The wuarchive directory also contains AniMan, which uses the same
library, but has a less recent version of it than VCLI 5.1 (so use the
VCLI 5.1 version).

A couple of hints: Make sure that you have set binary mode in ftp when
you get these files (this is
the most frequent cause of complaints that the .lha archive is corrupt).
Make sure that you flush libraries (avail flush) after installing the
voice.library, or reboot, before running VCLI 5.1 the first time.

VCLI is a must have piece of software for anyone interested in speech
recognition. It also makes for great demos (you can use it to tell
prodraw to make a blue circle, for example). It's even a quite useful
tool (I use it to page through my mail, by having it send arexx commands
to the VLT terminal program). Don't get it unless you have an audio
digitiser (but they are cheap, and well worth getting).

Following is the readme file:

Short: Voice Command Recognition V5.1
Type: util/misc

This is version 5.1 of Richard Horne's Voice Recognition
Software. It allows you to control amiga applications by
speaking to the machine. It runs in the background and is
multitasking friendly. Since it works by template matching,
it is not restricted to any particular language.

VCLI51.lha contains VCLI (5.1) and voice.library (6.3)

This is a list of new features which was sent to me by its
author (RHorne@cup.portal.com):

1. I've added an option to select CIAB Timer A or Timer B.
I've had reports that Timer B conflicts with some other
programs (AirLink in particular).

2. I've added an option to load altenate command files
by voice command rather that having to return to Information
to make a menu selection.

3. I've added an option to turn off VCLI's spoken confirmation
of commands.

4. The command file now stores the entire VCLI configuration
including Sampler, Timer, Confirmation, Output, Resolution, and
Scope Display mode.

5. I've made a few changes in voice.library to make it
more bullet proof. ...

6. And finally, I've fixed the font problem. ... I have made
the VCLI display immune to selection of other system fonts.
