About three years ago, I issued a numerical listing of telephone area
codes for the USA and Canada. Since that time, there have been numerous
changes and additions to the list. cmoore@brl.mil worked on getting
the list revised as of July, 1992 and it is now available in the
Telecom Archives for anyone who wants a copy.

In addition, the archives now contains a comprehensive index of
country and city codes for all international points. This is
continually being updated as the authors find errors and corrections.

To get your copy of the 1992 US telephone area code list in numerical
order and/or the international country/city code list, use anonymous
ftp to lcs.mit.edu. Login anonymous, and use your name@site as the
password. When online, 'cd telecom-archives'.

Then get the files which begin with the word 'areacode', as in
areacode.guide and areacode.script. 'cd country.codes' if you want to
get those files as well.

Finally, if you want some good glossaries of telecom terminology, we
have a few on line. Just pull the files which begin with the word
'glossary'.
