New and Upgraded Software Released

NEW AND UPGRADED SOFTWARE RELEASED AND AVAILABLE THROUGH ANONYMOUS FTP
Version 1.02 of the BCAST software package has been released and is now
available through anonymous FTP (filename: "BCAST102.ZIP"). This Solar and
Geophysical Database Management and Analysis Software is designed to
automatically extract, archive, interpret, and analyze all of the values
contained in the daily Solar Geophysical Data Broadcast (SGDB) reports which
are posted to the nets.
This newest release contains substantial enhancements and new utilities.
It also contains information on a new subscription service to provide
mailings of 5 1/4" 1.2 MB or 3 1/2" 1.44 MB disks each quarter (March, June,
September, and December) containing solar and geophysical information and
supplementary material.
New WARNINGS and ALERTS have been added to the SGDB reports. Only
version 1.02 of this BCAST software will properly handle these new warnings
and alerts. This software is therefore highly recommended for those who are
using BCAST to properly interpret the SGDB reports.
This release of the BCAST software is available through anonymous FTP
from one of the following anonymous FTP sites:
solar.stanford.edu <--> "pub/Software"
nic.funet.fi <--> "pub/dx/software/msdos/solar"
wsmr-simtel20.army.mil <--> "pd1:<msdos.database>" <-- Not Yet Available
wuarchive.wustl.edu <--> "mirrors/msdos/database" <-- Not Yet Available
Note that the SIMTEL20 archive site listed above and its mirror site
"wuarchive.wustl.edu" have not yet processed the file for inclusion in their
archives. The software has been submitted, and should become available from
these sites shortly.
This version of BCAST is 269.8 K bytes in size when compressed and
expands to approximately 660 K bytes when decompressed.
