I was waiting to see if anyone else would answer, but since no one has...

SIMTEL20 is one of the main sites for PD/Shareware MS-DOS stuff. However,
it is usually busy and quite slow. Some other locations that mirror
SIMTEL but are much easier to use include:

rigel.acs.oakland.edu, in directory /pub/msdos
nic.funet.fi, same directory
wuarchive.wustl.edu, in /mirrors/msdos

For Microsoft Windows, try ftp.cica.indiana.edu in /pub/pc/win3.

For harder-to-find files, archie might be of some help. Telnet to
archie.rutgers.edu or archie.unl.edu and login as "archie". Type
"help" and read the help screens for more info.

Also, try reading comp.os.msdos. The monthly FAQ list should have
a list of sites in it.
