We'd had to cut retention on alt and talk down to 4 days and the others to 6. Of course if you're talking "without alt.binaries.whatever" then I agree that your number is closer to the mark. But don't underestimate the effect that CompuServe, AOL, and Prodigy are having as well as all the local providers springing up ... >What on earth are you running for software? We'd been looking at getting a satellite feed back when we had only a 56K to alleviate the load on our network connection but were afraid it wouldn't very well with INN. We were also concerned about fast the PageSat feed was - if it was fairly up-to-date a backup NNTP feed would make sense because the duplicated articles would just be dropped and wouldn't come over the wire. But if the PageSat stuff was slow, you'd still have all that traffic coming. -- jamesd@teleport.com "5104 newsgroups & nothing on ..." Full internet (ftp, telnet, irc, ppp) available.
