My apology for this dumb query, but a colleague has asked me to do a job for him and I don't really have time to learn all the tricks of the bbs trade just now, so I'm hoping someone can give me a blow-by-blow recipe to achieve the following, please: Problem: Connect by modem to overseas bbs running Procomm Plus Download file from bbs to local PC using Mirror III v1.0 Notes: I can get a menu of options such as D(ownload) etc., and a menu to select a protocol (only X-modem and Y-modem seem to be useful options here - unfortunately Mirror III doesn't support Z-modem) then I'm offered the chance to specify a file name to download. But when I try to R(eceive) the file using the Mirror RX command (receive X-modem) things just bomb out and I get a "cancelled" message from the host :-( Both systems are set to 8N1 for the transfer, so at least *that's* not the problem. Solution: ? Over to you dear readers. Any advice would be welcome, but I would especially appreciate a detailed list of instructions from someone who has actual experience with this particular operation: i.e. downloading a file from a bbs running Procomm Plus to a PC running Mirror III. I would appreciate e-mail responses (by all means post also if you wish to) because our system "drops" a lot of incoming news (i.e. it doesn't come in :-( Thanks very much for your trouble. Cheers, Ian S. P.S. Note also that I've set followup-to comp.bbs.misc. -- Ian Staples E-mail : ianst@dpi.qld.gov.au c/- P.O.
