| A local BBS I know of recently decided to offer usenet/email
| access to the users.

| They then pass these to a program called MarkMail which turns
| the messages into a qwk format. The user's then use a offline
| mail reader to download the messages.

This is apparently a Fidonet bbs carrying Usenet newsgroups;
that is why they can create QWK packets without pain :-)

| I would think if desired they could pass the messages to
| waffle as well (the messages not the qwk formatted stuff)

Sure - get a Usenet feed from them. They've got one feeding
them; can't they feed you?
