Has anyone had any success with dos waffle aliasing the
\spool\unbatch directory to a ramdisk?
I tried using MD-DOS 5 alias, and a 1.5Mb ramdrive, but it wouldn't
work.
(My feedsite feeds me compressed 500k newsbatches)

Why not just set the d:/spool option to the ramdisk, and set the /outbox
option to a harddrive so it won't default to the ramdisk. There doesen't
appear to be a way to override the specfic /unbatch, where /unbatch would
be on the ramdisk and the /batch would be on more permanent media.
I imagine you'd want this kind of setup rather than chancing outgoing mail
to a ramdisk that could disappear.

It worked fine. In fact, as soon as I get 4 more Meg of Ram, I will go back to using /spool on the RADMDRIVE. Saves a whole bunch of disk chruning and does process news a tad faster. -- Mike, San Diego, CA USA Public Key Available mikey@slic.cts.com GEnie: SLIC Ham: WB6WUI

I can see using a ramdrive for /spool/unbatch but having everything under spool in a ramdrive seems very risky. -- Internet: rick@ricksys.lonestar.org If I bounce (the maps have errors that I have no control over) then use bo836@cleveland.freenet.edu BITNET: bo836%cleveland.freenet.edu@cunyvm
