I'm having real problems getting the newsgroups from my local feed. I can upload and download regular email to/from the unix site, but all I get is "bad header (+hex numbers)" errors when the newsgroups are sent to me. The unix host is sending me everything the same way as he does another local waffle board, 16 bit compression (yes, I've put in the 16 bit compression module) and they don't have any problems... so, it seems to be something in my configuration. I am not providing a feed to any other sites. What might cause these "bad header" errors? Please help, it's truly driving me up the wall!! Please reply either here or to jfrost@crash.cts.com Thanks, Julian

This is the 1st I've heard that you were using 16 bit compression. I assumed that it was 12 bit. I'd consider asking your smarthost to change it to 12 bit and use the normal compress.exe in the V1.65 archive. That's some real power stuff and I think it requires almost all of the 640K RAM. At least get your feed working before going into the 16 bit heavy hiters. slic is 12 bit and I get around 1450 cps when using uucp spoofing with my smarthost. My smarthost originally started feeding slic with 16 bit as I did not ask for 12 bit. -- Mike, San Diego, CA USA Public Key Available mikey@slic.cts.com GEnie: SLIC Ham: WB6WUI
