If your news client doesn't automatically use the "Followup-To:" please manually set your follow-up messages to "Newsgroups: comp.dcom.isdn" thanks. Don't be embarassed! The only stupid questions are the ones NOT asked. Since your question is mostly about the bottom (physical) layer of the 7 layer reference model, and since comp.client-server is mostly about the topmost layers, I'm cross-posting this response to comp.client-server and to comp.dcom.isdn and I'm setting the Follow-up header to just c.d.isdn. The ISDN gurus in c.d.isdn may be able to help you more than I can, but here's some advice from a non-guru: Use the LAN connection, not the WAN connection. As a general rule, a LAN is cheaper, simpler, more reliable, and faster. In other words, connect your R&D machine to your Internet Server with a LAN, and add a NIC to the Internet server if it doesn't have one. Use the WAN/ISDN connection just for testing the performance and appearance of the slow speed connections that distant Non-Local clients will be forced to use. -- Ben Rosenberg TSG The Technical Support Group Ltd.
