Pardon this naive question, but I'm not sure I see the distinction here.
Haven't you described a) a file server, b) a print server, and c) a time
server? Am I incorrectly using the terms Client and Server (not that
anyone's ever done that ;-)).

(Note: we have a bunch of PCs using Unix workstation print queues and
clock synchronization.)
