Hello everyone, I am not sure if this is the proper newsgroup, but I work for a small architecture firm that is looking to upgrade our server. At the moment we have NT Small business server 4.0. I don't know everything about this OS, but as we added some XP computers, they don't work well with the server. Is this something that can only be remedied by an upgrade to Windows Server 2000 or 2003? Also, would it be worthwhile to use 2000 or go to 2003. This is as basic as a server gets (and meets all the requirements), and is only used as a file server and possibly a mail server in the future, but the problems with XP and possibly getting newer laptops with XP already installed, is making us consider an upgrade. Any help would be appreciated greatly. Thank you. -- Night_Seer

Hello One question...what are the problems you are having with your XP clients? As per what OS to use, Win2000 or Win2003...If are are not planning a major implementation of servers running 2003, then stick with Win2000 server. Since you mentioned that this server is used only for file serving, then I would stay with 2000. Are you running a WorkGroup or Domain? How many PC's already exist in your network. Keep in mind that in a Workgroup you can have up to 10 pc's utilizing resources on that server.
