Hi all, I have a MS-Access 8 (Access 97) Database (xxx.mdb) and I must read it with MS-Access 7.0. MS-Access say me: "Invalid database object", "Microsoft Access couldn't create storage for the visual basic module". I can import the tables, queries and macros but not the forms, reports and modules. Is it a mean to transfer my database from MS-Access 8 format to MS-Access 7 format ?? Thanks, Pascal Fragniere

Access never has had any type of backwards compatibility. You will not be able to export your forms and reports from the ver 8 database to the ver 7 database. You must recreate those manually. You can bring the code for the forms, reports, and modules accross from ver 8 to ver 7 by doing the following. In ver 8 database, Open the form or report in design view, 1. Click the View menu, and then click Code. 2. Click the File menu, and then click Save as Text. This will save your code as a text file. 3. Start Access 7 and open the database 4. Open the target form or report in design view 5. Click the View menu, and then click Code. 6. Delete any existing code that Access may have created for your (like Option Compare Database and Option Compare Text) 7. Click the Insert menu, and then click File. Select the previously saved Text file and then click Open. You should now compile this code to locate anything that worked in ver 8 but did not exist in ver 7.
