lookups

I have two tables called A and B. Table A has a field lookup to table B
which then fills in a couple of fields. OK so far.
Now I also have a form based on table A. If the item I want to lookup does
not exist in table B I am stuck, so I have made a command button which takes
me into a form for Table B so I can add the new item. The problem is that
when I exit the table B form the new item does not appear in the field
lookup on the table A form. If I then exit the table A form and come back
in again the new item appears OK.
What am I doing wrong? Is there someone out there that can help this Access
novice? I am running Access 97
Thanks in advance
Bruce Collins

You have a pretty common problem. Here's a sample database that uses a
query to combine the fields necessary to provide "complete information".
Give it a try and if you have any questions, let me know.

Have fun!

Michael,

I am sure you'll hear this from a host of others too. Please don't post
binaries to the newsgroups. Either e-mail them privately, are post them to
one of the binaries groups.

Isn't there code that can refresh for you automatically?

Bruce,
I had this problem too. You aren't doing anything wrong. Create a
"Refresh " command button. You create the refresh button using the same
menus you used in creating your command button that switched you to the
table B form. Click the "Refresh" button after you return to table A.
Now your new item should appear in your look-up.
Good luck,
J
P.S. When I waas using Paradox, this was not a problem.
