Hi there. This is a PeopleSoft upgrade query. I don't seem to find any specifically PeopleSoft newsgroups here - anyone know of one? Meanwhile, here's the question: We need to upgrade a 5.12 database to 7.5. I see that PS does not seem to support a direct upgrade path for this, but rather suggests going from 5.12 to 7.0, then 7.0 to 7.5. Of course, I would rather do this all in one shot. Has anyone tried this? I am assuming that it is unsupported because it has not been done/certified by PS, but I can't think of any reason why it could not be done. Can anyone tell me what problems I might expect if I try this? Also - if I do end up doing it in 2 steps, I see that PS supports 5.12 to 7.0 and (more recently) 5.12 to 7.01. Since I would be going on to 7.5 anyway, does it make a difference? Would I need to use 5.12 to 7.0 or 5.12 to 7.01? I am thinking I should use 5.12 to 7.0, since the next step seems to be 7.0 to 7.5. But, really - 5.12 to 7.5 would be much preferred.... Thanks for any comments. You might post to the PeopleSoft support web site. It is used by PeopleSoft customers to exchange information among themselves. I don't remember the address, offhand, but as a customer, you should have been given a few accounts to the protected site. Though I have not done this particular upgrade, I would doubt that it could be done. As you know, there are dozens of scripts/programs used to upgrade the system. They each depend on the system being in a certain configuration and would probably break if something was out of synch. Actually, taking the two steps should not be too serious a problem. Just take them one after the other. Anyway, post to the PeopleSoft group. I'm sure you can get some more definitive answers to your question. Richard L. I too am a PeopleSoft Developer (new from PowerBuilder) and have wondered why there aren't any News groups for PeopleSoft. Is it because of the propriety nature of the software? I doubt if you find a lot of information on the www.peoplesoft.com (customer connection). The way to find out is to call support. If they say itοΏ½do it. That has been my experience with PeopleSoft. Richard, Thanks for your input. Actually, I did post to peoplesoft's "Customer Connection" discussion group - but it appears to be fairly dead. Although there are some postings there, responses are rare and long delayed.... I thought I'd see if the ole usenet still has any life. It does, moreso than peoplesoft's page - but not quite like it used to.... I already have peoplesoft's line on the issue - I just wanted to see what other users think. I don't know why there is no PeopleSoft newsgroup. Pretty much all software is proprietary (Oracle for example...). Maybe we should create one. John, I am a PeopleSoft Oracle DBA and I have done numerous PeopleSoft upgrades and there are many problems that you need to watch out for. You did not list what application(s) that your are upgrading and that can make a difference. The GUI interface between 5.12 and 7.0 or 7.5 is very different and user training is an issue. If there were any customization done to your current system you will have some issues on the new functionality issues.. do you keep or over write panels, menus...etc. This can and should be a major project if you are in production or have done any customizations. I don't think that I have helped any but there are a number of considerations before undertaking this type of task. Terry Berryhill john hayes wrote: > > Hi there. This is a PeopleSoft upgrade query.
