We have taken delivery of FPU 2.6 and installed it and have started to try and
get terminals sorted out etc. Although not running 10+ sessions yet our
eventual aim would be to switch our whole Foxbase application to FPU. This is
used by 40+ users most of whom use more than 3 Foxbase sessions at a time ie
that is about 120+ concurrent users of Foxbase/Foxpro.

The terminal emulation is pretty grubby from what I casn see but we may be able
to cure some of the problems (always the optimist). From other peoples notes
it appears that terminal speeds above 9600 although they work are no faster
than 9600.

I would think that you could forget about developing under UNIX, do it in DOS
on a PC and transfer it over.

I am very concerned about the memory usage which is twice that of Foxbase. For
this the programme actually works slower.

On the plus the Foxbase programmes just went over without any problem and
databases worked without reindexing or anything. The code recompiled
without a hitch and that was about 60,000 lines of code. The look of the
terminals is also better in Foxpro than Foxbase.

We are just starting but would like to keep up contact with others to gain
other views etc.

Lastly a plug for users outside of US. I bought my package from UNIDIRECT who
were great to deal with. We had a hitch with one disk not being able to be
read. Microsoft were absolutely useless to deal with (NZ and US) but UNIDIRECT
sorted it all out.
