subject: misbehaviour of SMC cards with packetdrivers, continued. As a respond to our previous mailing we received a new packetdriver from SMC. It is version 11.40 and, according to the text, written for the new SMC card, the etherEZ (8416). We tried the driver first on the Ultra card and, no luck, the problem persisted. Then we tried the new etherEZ card with the new driver. The problem continues!!! Even faster than the Ultra, the etherEZ duplicated 64 bytes of a broadcast packet and send it out again. As said before this behaviour makes that bridges and switches move the address of the original sender to another port, making the original sender unreachable. Specially Novell servers are victims and are fairly long unreachable, mainly because Novell servers respond to requests and those requests don't reach the Novell server anymore.
