Hello everyone. One of our sites has suddenly started causing us headaches. On Monday two of the three workstations which have got Windows 3.1 and JSB Multiview Desktop have started hanging with a blank screen. Upon rebooting the users get a message like "JSB user limit exceeded. Illegal licence detected". This only happens on SCO UNIX server A; server B is still fine. During the weekend various things were done at the site : a couple of new PCs were added (with SunSelect PC-NFS but NO JSB) and a third PC was added to the network with Castle Rock's SNMPc Network Manager for Windows in order to monitor the network. Also a new network point was added (10Base2 to an EAD make-before-break socket). None of this should have any effect on the JSB licensing (we have checked the NFS licences just in case and there are no duplicates) and although three of the SCO UNIX 3.2.4v2 servers have the JSB Host Support Module installed, no changes were made to them over the weekend. Strangely enough server A has two segments (200.0.1 and 200.0.2) and if we reconfigure TCP/IP to stop forwarding packets between the two segments the problem appears to go away again. The new PCs were added to network 200.0.2, and the two PCs which are having problems are an old PC on 200.0.2 and an old PC on 200.0.1. The new network point was also added to 200.0.2 but llistat shows no problems at all on that segment. Am I finally cracking under the strain and going crazy ? Or does anyone have any idea what's going on ? Could SNMP poll requests be triggering the JSB licence validation procedures or something ? -- +-------------------------------------+----------------------------------+ | Greg Watson | FailSafe Computing Ltd | | | Longdene House | | Internet : gw@failsafe.demon.co.uk | Haslemere | | Voice : 0428 643232 | Surrey | | Fax : 0428 642727 | GU27 2PH | +-------------------------------------+----------------------------------+
