Philip,

I'm not involved directly with ARCNET, but perhaps I can help. You'll probably
want to get a copy of the "ARCNET Designer's Handbook", Datapoint publication
number 61610. This has the technical details on ARCNET. It covers the basic
concept of ARCNET, the link-level interface, the 9026 chip interface, and some
notes on network tools, operation, etc. It does not cover the new ArcnetPlus,
which is the 20 Mb/sec version of ARCNET. I don't know if there is a
designer's handbook out for ArcnetPlus yet.

You can buy a copy of this book by calling Datapoint in the U.S. at
800-733-1500, extension 7874. I have no idea how much it costs. If you
are outside the U.S. the number is +1-512-593-7874.
