First:  My appologies for getting ILEC and CLEC backwards.  Sorry.

There are many ways to read between the lines on the SBC action before
the FCC.  Most are not very complimentary.  The Teleconfusion Act of
1996 ordered the FCC to provide for competative local carriers.  The FCC
did it by allowing CLEC's to use the facilities of the ILEC monopolies.
Needless to say, the ILEC's failed to appreciate the effort and are
doing everything they can to screw the CLEC's.  In my humble opinion,
this ain't gonna work for long.

Wireless.  Do a web search for LMDS and MMDS.  Check out
http://www.wavepath.com. ADSL technology is about all you can do with a
copper pair.  The trick is to bypass the frame and the local loop
entirely.  At this time, only cable, satellite, and terrestrial RF are
able to do so effectively.  I'll spare you my crystal ball as it's
certain to start an arguement.
