I would recommend staying inside. Let me/us know more about the path
that you could take if inside (ie: computer 1 is on the first/ground
floor of a ranch style house and computer 2 is in the basement. The
basement has either no finished ceiling or is a suspended panel
ceiling. The floor by computer 1 is X (X being carpet or ceramic
tile, or ?? - can it be drilled through easily?). )

The first method would be to see what the ceiling of the lower
computer is (computer 2). If you can get at the exposed ceiling you
may be able to drill up either a) into a wall cavity next to computer
1 or b) simply through the floor by computer 1.

If this does not seem posible you might be able to go into the attic
and come down from above - again depending upon the house. Fill us in
a bit more.

The wire outside method would be my _last_ _last_ errr - what was that
again _last_ resort. You could drill through the outside walls, poke
the cable through and fill the holes with caulk. Not pretty but it
can work. You would want to fasten the cable to the house to that it
would not be 'flapping in the breeze.'

Just my thought - but I do this as part of my regular job - computer
network installations.
